Thomas Turfgrass understands that water is a vital element to survival for all living things. As a company whose success relies on the use of H2o, we pride ourselves on working to become good stewards of this invaluable resource.

We started our efforts in preservation from the roots- choosing the right sod makes a big difference. We currently grow varieties considered to be the most drought tolerant grasses commercially available today.

In cooperation with Oklahoma State University, we are currently trial testing four different grasses that have been proven to be more drought tolerant than any other variety on the market.

As another conservation measure, we top dress our sod with organic compost twice a year.

Top-dressing is an effective barrier against evaporation of soil moisture and can increase water retention by up to 30% or more in some cases.

This nutrient rich material not only saves on water use, but it cuts down on chemical fertilizer; a top goal at Thomas Turfgrass.

We are currently exploring an option for an alternative irrigation system which uses science to amend and change the frequency of water to produce a healthier crop- requiring less water and chemical products.

Our top priority is the continual research and utilization of alternative ways to grow a superior product while conserving and protecting the environment in which we live and work.
